A letter from the Vicarage – Rev’d Andy Stand
Hi Everyone,
How are we all doing? I hope and pray that you are all keeping well.
At the time of writing we have just brought the curtain down on our Easter celebrations, with our services for Pentecost, and the weather is looking set fair for that rare oddity of a warm and dry bank holiday, and on recent evidence a warm and dry school holiday – is it just my imagination or does it normally wait for the schools to break up, for the weather to take a turn for the worse? Hopefully you are enjoying the warmer, brighter weather, as well.
Last month you may remember that I wrote about writing a psalm and encouraging you to maybe write one for yourselves. As an example I cited one I had written a number of years ago now, as part of my preparation for my selection conference to determine (or otherwise) my calling to be a priest and to prepare me for Theological College.
You may remember that it was a reflection (if that’s the right word, and I’m not sure it is) on the passage of time and how quickly time can fly by.
Talking of which can you believe that it will be ten years this month since James, Chris and I arrived in Worcester and began our ministry amongst you (June 7th)? James was only just completing his reception year in school and he is now about to go into his GCSE year (and that’s not a scary thought at all!).
The 1st to 7th June is designated as Volunteers week in the UK, and we want to say a big “Thank You” to everyone for your fellowship and support over the last ten years, and for your work as volunteers within the churches and church communities that we serve. “Thank you all, very much”.
Do please come and help us to mark the occasion by dropping into our Open House, at the vicarage, on Saturday 6th June, 10.00 a.m.-12.30 p.m. or 2.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. It would be great to see people there.
Every Blessing,
Andy.
